Good luck to the girls on Sunday as the Rhigos Ravens kick off their 2006/07 campaign at home against Pontyclun.
Firsts went down 9-5 at Pontardawe in the first game of the season
Rhigos Ravens are through to the Quarter Finals of the National Plate this week after losing out in the cup to Llandaff North 2nds.
They will now play away to Welshpool on the 2nd of April.
This is a great achievment for the Ravens, as this is only their first year.
With experienced and in-experienced girls joining the squad all the time, the girls are sure to go from strength to strength.
GOOD LUCK GIRLS IN THE PLATE!!
Rhigos under 10's lost at home this weekend in a desperate struggle against Nantyfyllon.
With key players missing from the squad Rhigos lacked the strength to overcome to a very large Nanty team. However, the Rhigos 10's didnt lose heart and came back time and time again, challenging Nanty every step of the way. Good team work from the forwards saw Callum Thomas drive forward and Nanty were on the back foot, they got it away to the wings and saw Rhigos's only try from Faith Jones. She converted and the final score was Rhigos 7 Nanty 30.
MAN OF THE MATCH GOES TO CALUM ROSSITTER
Rhigos under 12'S and 13's lost at home this weekend to a very strong Nantyfyllon squad.
Nantyfyllon had the upper hand by being an experienced team, but this didnt deter the Rhigos youngsters. They held their own and showed some excellant defensive stratagies, but unfortunatly Nanty had one or two lucky breaks and made the most of them.
This final score was Rhigos 0 Nanty 22.
For a squad that has only been together for 5 months, they are definately ones to watch for the future. They are progressing from strength to strength and the final result didnt warrant such a hard fought game.
Excellant rugby boys ( and girl) WELL DONE!!
MAN OF THE MATCH WAS DANIEL IRVINE
Rhigos under 8's won on the Gnoll this weekend, against a very strong team from Taibach.
The Rhigos youngsters came out strong and scored three tries within the first half, but Taibach came back with avengence and equalled the score. With excellant defencive work, the Rhigos kids turned over the ball to ensure a try within the last two minutes to see Rhigos emerge victorious.
This was a great oppurtunity for the Rhigos kids as not only were they invited to play, they were also invited to participate in the guard of honour for the two teams, Neath and Cardiff.
All involved with Rhigos Minis and Juniors would like to thank Neath R.F.C and the development officer Gary Clements for giving the children this fantastic oppurtunity.
